What is Strength + Conditioning?

Official definition? Our Strength + Conditioning program is a fitness regimen that involves constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. It is a lifestyle characterized by safe, effective exercise for all age groups, with an emphasis on clean nutrition.

What is Strength + Conditioning at Iron Legion? Our Strength + Conditioning programs are specifically created to develop your GPP. GPP is General Physical Preparedness. This means that we focus on your overall state. We do not isolate body parts in our Strength + Conditioning program. We will be utilizing your entire body from head to toe.

We use unique combinations of weightlifting, strongman, cardio, and gymnastics to build your strength, enhance your cardio, and create unstoppable endurance. The result? GPP. The secondary result? Aesthetic differences you can be proud of and an ironclad confidence that you can take on anything.

Meet Your Instructors

Our instructors have been collectively studying and perfecting their Strength + Conditioning practices and techniques for decades. The ethos and methodology of Iron Legion are to train members of the clan to master physical training techniques and to forge better humans.

Ted Dreaver

Ted Dreaver, fitness aficionado and founder of Iron Legion, is a natural-born leader who has always prioritized overall health and wellness. He lived a life on the road as a kid and trained in the gym when he could. The globo-gym space always bothered him. It was sterile, faceless, impersonal, and completely devoid of social connection. There was no real push to get better. This drive for personal connection and community, paired with his passion for teaching others, led to the Iron Legion that exists today.

“Our Strength + Conditioning philosophy in and of itself for us is a fitness program that rejects the status quo, we’re not big on the globo-gym style where you don’t know anyone. You are never left on your own”.

Esteban Ospina

Hey, I’m Esteban — originally from Cali, Colombia, but I’ve spent the last few years living and training in Miami. I’m 24 years old and completely hooked on the process of becoming stronger, faster, and better every single day — and helping others do the same.

My background is in competitive CrossFit, and I’ve had the opportunity to compete at some of the sport’s highest levels. I’m a 2024 CrossFit Games Qualifier, 3x Semifinals Athlete, and the current National CrossFit Champion for Colombia. I’ve also stood on the podium at events like Wodapalooza (3rd place Rx) and taken first in the elite division at competitions like Atlantic Coast Classic and WOD Wars.

Outside of the gym, I’m a big fan of football (soccer), I never say no to a good bandeja paisa, and I’m always down for a board game or pickup sports with friends. My favorite color is black, and I live by the quote: “Sometimes you dig with a shovel and sometimes with a spoon, but never stop digging.”

I’m excited to be part of the Iron Legion family and can’t wait to train, grow, and compete alongside you. Let’s get to work.

“The coach is someone who gets you to do what you don’t want to do, so you can be who you want to be.” -Tom Landry

FAQ

What should I expect at my first class?

Expect to move, sweat, and learn. Every session starts with a warm-up, followed by skill or strength work, and then a workout that challenges your endurance and intensity. Our coaches walk you through everything step-by-step, making sure you move safely and confidently. You’ll never be left on your own - you’ll have guidance, coaching, and a community cheering you on.

Do I need to be in shape to start?

Not at all. Our program is built for all fitness levels - from complete beginners to seasoned athletes. Every workout can be adjusted for your abilities, goals, and experience. You bring the effort, and we’ll handle the rest.

How is this different from a regular gym workout?

Typical gyms leave you guessing what to do. At Iron Legion, every class is coach-led and programmed with intention. We combine strength training, endurance work, and functional movements to create results that translate to real life - not just what you see in the mirror. You’ll move better, feel stronger, and perform at a higher level, both in and out of the gym.

What does “Strength + Conditioning” actually mean?

Strength + Conditioning is about building total-body performance - not just lifting heavy or running fast. Our approach develops General Physical Preparedness (GPP): strength, stamina, endurance, flexibility, coordination, and more. It’s designed to make you capable in any situation, whether that’s carrying groceries or crushing a personal record.

How often should I train Strength + Conditioning?

For most members, 3–5 sessions per week delivers incredible results. Our program is structured to balance effort and recovery, so you can push hard and still recover properly. If you’re new, start with two or three sessions per week - consistency matters more than perfection.

What if I’ve had an injury or physical limitation?

No problem. Our coaches are experienced in modifying movements to meet your needs while keeping you safe. You’ll still get a great workout and can gradually rebuild strength and confidence. We’ll meet you where you are - and help you move forward from there.

Will I get bulky from Strength + Conditioning?

No - unless that’s your goal. Most members build lean muscle, drop body fat, and improve definition. The focus here is performance: moving well, getting stronger, and feeling confident in your own skin. The aesthetic results are a bonus that naturally follow.

What’s the community like at Iron Legion?

Unlike traditional gyms, Iron Legion is built around connection. Everyone here pushes together, celebrates progress, and supports one another. You’ll find people who show up for the same reason - to get better every day. It’s a team atmosphere where effort earns respect, no matter where you start.
“Our coaches invest a lot of time in their clients. Every step they take at Iron Legion, the leaders take it with them.”
