Training in Ocala for the Official Strongman Games World Final: A Visiting Athlete’s Guide

The Official Strongman Games World Final is coming to Ocala, and if you are one of the athletes making the trip, your training does not have to stop when you land.

From November 20 to 22, 2026, more than 400 strongman and strongwoman athletes from over 50 countries will compete at the World Equestrian Center. It is the first time the World Final has been held in Ocala, and for many athletes it is the biggest stage of their season.

That also means a week or more away from your home gym. Hotel fitness rooms are not built for stone loads, and most commercial gyms in town do not have a yoke, a log or an axle on the floor.

Iron Legion Strength + Combat does. We are a 24/7 strength gym in downtown Ocala, a 20 to 25 minute drive from WEC, and our floor was built with strongman in mind.

This guide covers what you need to know about the event, where to train while you are here, and how to get the most out of your time in Ocala.

The 2026 Official Strongman Games World Final at a Glance

The World Final is the championship of the Official Strongman Games season. Athletes earn their invitations by placing at qualifying competitions around the world.

  • Sunday, November 22, 2026
  • Venue: World Equestrian
  • Center, Expo Center 1, 1284 NW 87th Ct Rd, Ocala, FL 34482
  • Field: More than 400 athletes from over 50 countries

Where to Train Strongman Near WEC

When you are this close to competition, you want implements that match what you will see on the field. You want room to move, and a gym that will not look at you sideways when you drop a stone.

Iron Legion has spent more than a decade building a training floor with intention.

Every stone, yoke, log and sandbag here was bought because strongman athletes need to train the actual events, not substitutes. You can see the full equipment list on our strongman gym page.

Equipment That Matches the World Final Events

  • Atlas stones, including a Husafell stone, for your stone series prep
  • Axle bars for press ladders and axle deadlifts
  • Sandbags for tosses, carries and steeplechase work
  • Yokes, logs and farmers handles
  • A carry frame, Conan’s Wheel and Fingal’s Fingers
  • Deadlift stations and Rogue plates for ladder work
  • Sleds and a rope pull station

Indoor and Outdoor Space

Our campus includes open-air training space alongside the indoor floor. That gives you room for carries, drags and medleys, the same space where we run the Ocala Strength Open every September.

Open 24 Hours

Competition weeks do not run on a normal schedule. Iron Legion offers 24/7 gym access in downtown Ocala, so early openers, late arrivals and anyone adjusting to a new time zone can train when it suits them.

A Gym Where Strongman Athletes Already Train

You will not be the only competitor in the room. Iron Legion is home base for athletes who compete locally, nationally and on the world stage, and two of our own are competing at the World Final this year: Owen Ward and Sean Fennelly. They have been training for this event on the same floor you will use.

Strongman at Iron Legion is led by Ted Dreaver, our founder and head coach, who runs our weekly Strongman Saturdays. Coach Sean Riley is a competitive strongman athlete as well. Between them, you will find people who know what a final week of prep should look like.

We also host the Ocala Strength Open, a United States Strongman sanctioned competition held in downtown Ocala every September. For a lot of local athletes, it was their first strongman meet. You can read more about how we train the events in The Forge, our main training space.

Planning Your Trip to Ocala

Getting here: Gainesville Regional Airport (GNV) is about 40 miles from WEC and Orlando International (MCO) is about 80 miles away. Most visiting athletes will want a rental car.

Where to stay: The event organizers have a discounted hotel block, linked from the Hotels and Travel section of the Official Strongman Games website. If you stay closer to downtown Ocala, you will be minutes from Iron Legion and the restaurants around the downtown square.

Recovery and fuel: The Brick & Iron Cafe is right next door to the gym, and showers are on site, so you can train, clean up and eat without crossing town.

Bringing a crowd: Single-day and three-day spectator tickets are sold through the official event website, so friends and family can come watch.

Train at Iron Legion While You Are in Ocala

You put in months of work to earn your spot at the World Final. Your last week of training should not come down to a hotel dumbbell rack.

If you are traveling to Ocala for the Official Strongman Games, reach out before your trip. Let us know when you arrive and what you want to train, and we will help you find time on the floor.

Contact Iron Legion or call us at (352) 450-5991. We are at 217 SE 1st Ave, Suite 100, in downtown Ocala.
